New Delhi: In a move to ensure timely resolution of industrial disputes and expedite the processing of labor claims, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour & Employment (MoLE), Sumita Dawra, conducted a performance review of field offices Monday under the Office of Chief Labour Commissioner (Central). The hybrid meeting was attended by senior officials from both the central and field offices, including Shri Alok Chandra, Senior Labour and Employment Advisor, Shri K. Sekhar, Chief Labour Commissioner (Central), Dy. Chief, Regional, Assistant, and Labour Enforcement Officers of the Central Labour Commission, a PIB release stated.

The review focused on the status of pending industrial disputes, claim cases, and the reporting of inspection cases on the Shram Suvidha Portal (SSP). Secretary Dawra emphasized the importance of timely disposal of industrial disputes and urged field offices to prioritize long-pending claim cases. She directed field offices to analyze the reasons for pendency and take appropriate corrective measures to alleviate the plight of workers.

The performance of field offices was assessed state-wise, with those demonstrating timely case disposal and low inspection report pendency being commended. Field offices lagging behind were given specific directions to improve their performance. Secretary Dawra highlighted that reducing the number of industrial disputes would enhance India’s attractiveness as an investment destination, ultimately leading to economic growth and employment generation. She underscored the fact that this would help realize the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

Weekly progress of the field offices will be taken up. Secretary Dawra concluded by urging officials to maintain close collaboration and teamwork to ensure the effective implementation of labor welfare measures.
