Bengaluru, Nov 2 (PTI) Karnataka will deploy 500 skilled powermen, along with necessary equipment, to Andhra Pradesh to assist in restoring power infrastructure damaged by Cyclone Arnab, Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said on Monday.

He said he had spoken to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and assured him of Karnataka’s full support in the wake of the cyclone.

“With over 15,000 electricity poles uprooted by Cyclone Arnab, the restoration of power infrastructure is critical, and Andhra Pradesh has sought Karnataka’s assistance in this effort,” Shivakumar said in a post on X.

He said the state’s Energy Department was coordinating the assistance, with Energy Minister K J George closely monitoring the situation.

“As part of this support, Karnataka is deploying 500 skilled powermen, along with the necessary equipment, to expedite restoration works and facilitate the early restoration of electricity supply in the cyclone-affected areas,” he said.

The teams would work in close coordination with Andhra Pradesh authorities to ensure the effective deployment of personnel and equipment at restoration sites, he added.

Referring to the approaching Cyclone Murasu, the CM said the state would continue to assess the situation and its impact over the next two days while extending all possible assistance.

“In times of adversity, solidarity must translate into action. Karnataka stands shoulder to shoulder with the people of Andhra Pradesh, and we will extend all possible support,” he added. PTI KSU ROH
