Chikkaballapura (Karnataka), Sep 29 (PTI) A Class 9 student staying at a government residential school in the district was allegedly sexually assaulted by the principal, police said on Tuesday.
The alleged incident took place on September 26, they said.
According to the FIR, the 15-year-old girl stated in her complaint that after completing her physical education half-yearly examination, all the students were studying in the prayer hall.
At around 2.30 pm, the principal allegedly lured her into the medicine room and touched her inappropriately and sexually assaulted her, the FIR said.
He also allegedly threatened her against disclosing the incident to anyone, it added.
The following day, when her father visited the hostel, she narrated the incident to him, police said.
Her father subsequently took her to the police station and following her complaint, a case was registered at Dhiburahalli police station under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the principal, a senior police officer said.
