KPCC chief backs CM Satheesan on UDF coordination

Kannur (Keralam), Oct 10 (PTI) KPCC president and state electricity minister Sunny Joseph on Saturday said Chief Minister V D Satheesan’s statement that there is good coordination within the ruling UDF was a ‘fact’ and that a complaint by UDF convenor Adoor Prakash on the issue is currently with the AICC.

Joseph was referring to Prakash’s recent remarks that state government decisions are taken without discussions within the ruling United Democratic Front (UDF) and that he had taken up the matter with the All India Congress Committee.

Responding to Prakash, Satheesan, in an interview with PTI, had said there was good coordination within the UDF Cabinet, which comprises leaders from the Congress and other coalition partners.

“What the chief minister said is a matter of fact. Prakash’s complaint is with the AICC, which will hold discussions on it and take necessary steps,” Joseph, Keralam Congress chief, said.

Regarding the KPCC reshuffle, Joseph said the party, under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, is currently conducting nationwide protests.

“At this time, their focus is directed there, and they will likely move on to other organisational matters only after addressing those concerns,” he said.

Joseph said the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) claim that the change of government in Keralam happened because of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls was devoid of logic.

“Even the CPI (M) has not acknowledged that they lost because of the SIR (in the April polls). What can we do when they are in power,” he said.

He said public sentiment was clear, pointing to the UDF’s victories in Assembly by-elections, the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the 2025 local body elections and the 2026 Assembly election in Keralam. PTI TBA TBA SA

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
