Kolkata, Nov 18 (PTI) The Kolkata Metro’s Joka-Taratala route connecting southwestern suburbs of the city will soon be operationalised with the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) giving the mandatory green light for the project, a senior official said here on Friday.

Six stations — Joka, Thakurpukur, Sakherbazar, Behala Chowrasta, Behala Bazar and Taratala — are ready for operations, he said.

“Mandatory clearance from the CRS has been obtained,” Metro Railway General Manager Arun Arora said.

He said that preparations are going on in full swing to start commercial operations on the Joka-Taratala stretch of the Joka-Esplanade Metro project.

Following trial runs on the stretch since September, the CRS inspection was held on November 10.

Arora said that Rs 2,477.25 crores have been spent by the Indian Railways for completing the 6.5 km stretch. PTI AMR ACD ACD
