Idukki (Kerala), Aug 10 (PTI) With heavy rainfall subsiding in Idukki, restrictions on tourism activities in the district were withdrawn on Monday, officials said.
The district witnessed heavy rainfall last week, triggering landslides and floods and prompting the District Collector, who is also the head of the District Disaster Management Authority, to impose restrictions on tourism activities in Munnar, Pallivasal, Kunjithanni and Vagamon, all popular tourist destinations.
In an order issued on Monday, the Collector said the restrictions had been withdrawn in view of the reduction in heavy rainfall and the absence of weather warnings.
Idukki has several major tourist destinations, such as Munnar, Thekkady and Vagamon, which attract visitors from across the country and abroad. PTI TBA SSK
