Bengaluru, Mar 31 (PTI) The Karnataka Finance department on Tuesday lodged a police complaint over a “fake” memo circulating on social media claiming that the services of contract staff across government departments would be terminated after their tenure ended.

The Finance department clarified that it had not issued any such memo, and said the fake memo’s issuance has created an atmosphere of confusion in government departments.

“Therefore, a complaint is hereby filed on behalf of the Government to take immediate action against the persons who issued such a fake memo in the name of the Finance Department,” Under Secretary to the Government Finance Department M Rajamma said in a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Police Vidhana Soudha.

According to an official source, the fake memo dated March 24, asked all departments to summarily terminate the services of outsourced employees, hired through agencies or based on agreements, whose term had ended.

Later, the Under Secretary also issued a press release, clarifying that no such order or official memo has been issued by the Finance Department. PTI KSU ROH
