Shimla, Aug 27 (PTI) Journey of internationally acclaimed world cyclist Somen Debnath reflects the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,’ said Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta on Thursday.
Debnath called on the governor and, during the meeting, he apprised the governor of his 19-year cycling journey spanning 191 countries across all seven continents, undertaken to spread awareness on social issues and carry the “spirit of Indian culture and values to the world.” He also briefed the governor on his ongoing year-long nationwide campaign, ‘Reunion Bharat – One Tree, One Life, Indian Youth and Sports,’ covering 28 states and five Union territories, which seeks to promote national unity, environmental stewardship, youth empowerment and sports.
The governor commended Debnath’s achievement and said that his mission reflects the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat,’ a statement issued here said.
He said that such initiatives strengthen the values of unity, discipline and service to the nation and encourage the youth to engage more deeply with sport and environmental responsibility.
