New Delhi, Aug 28 (PTI) A joint on-site inspection was conducted at Anand Vihar Railway Station and the surrounding National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) area on Friday to assess traffic congestion, pedestrian movement, public amenities and air pollution-related concerns, officials said.

The inspection was carried out in coordination with the East Delhi district administration under the guidance of District Magistrate (East) Karanjit and DCP Traffic (East) Shweta Singh, according to a statement.

Officials from various departments inspected the entry and exit points of the railway station and surrounding roads and reviewed issues related to traffic flow, pedestrian movement, escalator availability, access to the park and movement of e-rickshaws, it stated.

Discussions also covered measures to ensure smoother movement of passengers and vehicles at the station, along with better pedestrian access and more systematic operation of e-rickshaws, according to the district administration.

Air pollution control was also a key focus during the inspection.

Officials said traffic congestion and unnecessary vehicle stoppages can contribute to higher emissions, while movement on dusty roads can resuspend road dust. They discussed measures such as improved traffic management, road cleaning, dust suppression and water sprinkling to help control pollution in the area, it said.

Representatives of the concerned departments jointly assessed the issues and agreed to take necessary department-wise action in coordination with one another, according to the statement.

The district administration said the exercise aimed to improve traffic movement, passenger and pedestrian convenience and safety, public access, and air quality in the Anand Vihar area.

NCRTC is the organisation responsible for developing and operating the Namo Bharat regional rapid transit system in the NCR. Its area of operation includes surrounding access roads, entry-exit points, and public areas connected to the Anand Vihar transport hub. PTI SHB ASD ASD

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
