Kolkata, Sep 23 (PTI) Anyone suffering from a “physical ailment” should join an RSS ‘shakha’, adopt a healthy lifestyle and overcome health problems before contributing to nation-building, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said on Wednesday.
Adhikari made the remarks at the inauguration of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s new regional office, Keshav Smriti Bhavan, in New Town.
“RSS is the world’s biggest social and Hindutva organisation. It is an organisation where individuals are groomed to become responsible citizens. Those who have physical ailments should join an RSS shakha, get themselves cured and take part in nation-building,” he told reporters.
The chief minister visited the newly constructed building along with local BJP MLA Piyush Kanoria. Senior RSS functionaries were also present at the event.
The new office has come up as the RSS expands its organisational activities in West Bengal, sources said.
The RSS has witnessed a significant expansion of its organisational network in the state in recent months. The number of its ‘shakhas’, which stood at around 5,000 in May, is expected to rise to 10,000 soon, the RSS sources said. PTI PNT RBT
