Ranchi, Apr 22 (PTI) Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar expressed deep concern over “frequent cases of missing minor girls” in the state and directed the police administration to conduct a special review of all such cases in every district.

He also directed that the investigation of these cases is completed expeditiously on a priority basis.

On Gangwar’s instructions, the additional chief secretary to the Governor, Nitin Kulkarni, has sent a letter to the Director General of Police (DGP) regarding the cases related to missing of minor girls, according to a press statement issued by the Lok Bhavan on Wednesday.

“The cases of missing minor girls have been continuously coming to light in the state for the past few days. In these cases, serious and unpleasant incidents are often occurring due to the local police’s inability to take timely and appropriate action, which is extremely worrying,” the letter stated.

The governor has directed that an updated district-wise list of pending cases be compiled and made available to Lok Bhavan for perusal.

He stated that individuals involved in such crimes must fear the law.

Gangwar also emphasised that the safety of every daughter of the state is of the highest priority, and it must be ensured that all girls can live in a safe and fearless environment, the release said.

The governor has also received several memorandums regarding the disappearance of minor girls, it stated. PTI SAN SAN RG
