Jharkhand: Woman trampled to death by elephant in Lohardaga

Lohardaga, May 26 (PTI) A 35-year-old woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Jharkhand’s Lohardaga district on Tuesday morning, police said.

The incident occurred at Bedal Tangra Toli village in Bhandra police station area.

“She was taken to a government hospital, where doctors declared her brought-dead. The woman’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination,” said Manoj Kumar Gupta, the officer in-charge of Bhandra police station.

The victim’s family has been provided Rs 30,000 as immediate relief, while the remaining compensation amount will be given after completing formalities, an official said.
