Ranchi, Jul 24 (PTI) BJP’s Jharkhand unit on Friday staged demonstrations and burnt effigies of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi here, accusing him of misleading the youth over the NEET paper leak and remaining silent on alleged irregularities in the JPSC.
The demonstration was led by BJP Mahanagar president Varun Sahu.
BJP workers gathered at Albert Ekka Chowk and shouted slogans such as ‘Dual character of Rahul Gandhi would not work’ and ‘Rahul Gandhi, break silence on JPSC’.
“We demand a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities in JPSC in the state. The state government is not ready to talk over this issue. The Congress, which is a partner in the JMM-led alliance government, is silent. Why are they not speaking on this issue here? This shows their dual character,” Sahu told reporters.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already announced that the culprits behind the NEET paper leak will be punished. For their trial, he promised and ordered the creation of fast-track courts. Besides this, he also saved a year for 22 lakh affected students by reconducting the NEET,” Sahu said.
Ranchi Mayor Roshni Khalkho, who is supported by the BJP, alleged that the Congress’ “dual character” had forced the party to take to the streets.
“The Congress’ dual character is compelling us to hit the streets. If they really want the welfare of students and youth of the country, they should not mislead them at the Jantar Mantar protest site in New Delhi. They are creating an anarchic situation by instigating them,” she said.
“I want to ask Rahul Gandhi that under the 60 years of rule of his party, papers of several competitive examinations leaked more than 50 times, then why did no minister resign,” Khalkho said.
Police on Wednesday arrested five people, including a senior official of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), for their alleged involvement in the irregularities in various competitive examinations conducted by the commission.
The arrests were made a day after a raid conducted jointly by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) and the Ranchi police at the JPSC office on Tuesday.
The JPSC on Wednesday cancelled an upcoming exam three days before it was scheduled to begin.
“Important information regarding the schedule for various examinations conducted by Jharkhand Public Service Commission. Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Main (Written) Competitive Examination-2025 which was scheduled from 25.07.2026 to 27.07.2026 is postponed till further orders due to unavoidable reasons,” the JPSC said in a statement.
