New Delhi, Jun 7 (PTI) Drawing on the strategic and psychological wisdom embedded in Hindu epics such as the Mahabharata, Ramayana, and Bhagavad Gita, a new book explores how leadership failures are more often driven by internal struggles than by a lack of skill, knowledge, or competence.
“Itihaas: A Performance Model for Modern Leadership”, the debut book by senior business leader and scriptural strategist Sridhar Rammurthy, examines why leaders often struggle to act despite knowing what to do, linking modern leadership challenges to the timeless human dilemmas explored in India’s great epics.
“For thousands of years, Bharatiya civilization has taught a radical idea: that human beings are most powerful not when they act against the natural order, but when they align with it.
“When structured effort and Dharma move together, success gains both direction and divine support. This book could be a step towards creating a Bharatiya Framework for Consulting organizations as well,” Rammurthy said in a statement.
Central to the book is the “Itihaas Performance Model” (IPM), a structured leadership framework that maps the inner psychological journey a leader must navigate — from understanding a situation and forming intent to overcoming internal resistance and taking decisive action.
The model, according to the publisher Rupa Publications, draws on stories from the epics, including Arjuna’s paralysis on the battlefield at Kurukshetra, Hanuman rediscovering his own strength, and Rama’s strategic patience under pressure, and connects them to real-world scenarios from business and organisational life.
“The result is a framework that is both deeply Indian in its roots and universally applicable in its reach,” they added.
“Itihaas”, priced at Rs 395, is available for purchase across online and offline stores. PTI MG MG MG
