India records 3,106 Covid cases in 24 hours, highest in 6 months

States witnessing the maximum surge in cases are Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Delhi.

New Delhi: India has recorded 3,016 Covid cases in the last 24 hours, a 50% jump from the previous day, and the highest number of infections in the last six months.

The daily positivity rate now stands at 2.7% and the weekly at 1.71%, according to data released by the Union health ministry.

The last time India saw infections above 3,000 was on 2 October when there were 3,375 cases. There are 13,509 active cases right now, which is 0.03% of total infections. The national Covid-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.78 per cent, according to the health ministry website.

There have also been 6 deaths in the last 24 hours – three in Maharashtra, two in Delhi, one in Himachal Pradesh. Eight deaths have been reconciled by Kerala. The total deaths from Covid in India now stand at 530,862.
