India proposes import tax exemption for items for phone and EV battery production

NEW DELHI (Reuters) – India has proposed including items used to manufacture EV batteries and mobile phones to its list of capital goods that are exempt from import duty, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Tuesday.

The changes will be reflected in the budget for the next financial year, Sitharaman said in parliament.
