New Delhi: The Ministry of Mines has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the non-profit, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, to enhance the knowledge base of the critical minerals processing industry in India, a press statement said.

This partnership will help in creating a robust domestic critical minerals processing sector to support the country’s economic growth and enable a transition to clean sources of energy.

The agreement was signed by Secretary of Mines VL Kantha Rao after the opening ceremony of the ‘Critical Minerals Summit: Enhancing Beneficiation and Processing Capabilities’, organised by the Ministry of Mines.

During the summit, a panel discussion on critical minerals processing and scaling strategies for both domestic and global markets was held, under which the Ministry of Mines emphasised the importance of building a processing and beneficiation capacity to drive economic growth.

The Ministry of Mines has also committed to providing incentives to promote research and development of critical minerals processing technologies through infrastructure development.

The partnership will help promote India as a global hub for critical minerals processing and make it a self-reliant and globally competitive player in the critical minerals arena.

The summit is aimed at bringing together government officials, private sector stakeholders, and academic institutions to explore and promote collaboration opportunities in the critical minerals sector.

The pact will help create a sustainable ecosystem for the growth of the critical minerals industry while ensuring environmental protection.
