New Delhi: India is aiming for global leadership in frontier technologies, particularly in innovation and technology, said Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology.

At the “Technology Dialogue 2025” held at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru, Singh unveiled “Vision India Techade,” a strategic plan that envisions India as a global leader in innovation and technology. Singh outlined the government’s commitment to making the 2020s a “Techade for India” by highlighting several government initiatives, including the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), National Quantum Mission, and the India AI mission.

Singh emphasized the need for robust international partnerships to solidify India’s position as a global technology leader. He emphasised the need for India to partner with like-minded nations to advance critical technologies such as quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and green hydrogen.

India has taken a leading role in global technology governance, demonstrated by its co-chairmanship of the Summit for Action on Artificial Intelligence, scheduled for next month in France, and its active contributions to the United Nations’ International Year of Quantum Science and Technology in 2025, he said.

Singh emphasized the importance of integrating cross-sectoral synergies to maximize societal and economic impact. He cited the potential of combining AI with biotechnology or quantum computing with secure communication systems. Singh stressed the need for ethical technology governance, responsible innovation, and robust intellectual property protections to ensure technological progress benefits all.

Singh highlighted the crucial role of the Indian diaspora in strengthening international partnerships. Initiatives like the VAIBHAV Summit and OCI Scientist Scheme connect Indian innovators abroad with domestic stakeholders to foster co-innovation and capacity-building, he said.

Singh concluded by saying that India’s technological journey is about contributing meaningfully to global progress while ensuring sustainable and inclusive growth.  The country’s talent pool, dynamic startup environment, and strategic global partnerships position India to lead the world into a future powered by transformative technologies.
