Income Tax officials raid RJD MP Ahmad Ashfaque Karim

New Delhi [India], October 11 (ANI): Income Tax Department is conducting raids at Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Ahmad Ashfaque Karim in Bihar.

More than two dozen premises linked to the MP are covered in this search operation which started early this morning today.

Sources told ANI that searches are underway at Al-Karim Educational Trust, Patna, Al-Karim University Katihar and Katihar Medical College. Karim is currently a member of the RJD and was named Rajya Sabha Candidate for the biennial Rajya Sabha elections held in March 2018. Last year.

Ahmad Ashfaque Karim was raided by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with its probe into the land for job scam.

Sources told ANI that the income tax department has credible information on alleged tax evasion by the colleges which are owned by Karim.

Sources said the IT officials also have information about the donation taken by the college, allegedly in cash against admission to the medical college.

Raids are also going on at some other medical colleges and the IT Dept has found alleged malpractices in admissions to MBBS, BDS, and PG courses. Sources said that the colleges were allegedly found taking cash in the name of capitation fee, huge donation in cash. (ANI)
