Thiruvananthapuram, May 9 (PTI) The IMD on Saturday forecast isolated heavy rainfall in Kerala till May 13, officials said.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said a low-pressure area is likely to form over the southwest Bay of Bengal by May 11.

According to IMD, the low-pressure is likely to develop under the influence of a cyclonic circulation prevailing over the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining Sri Lanka.

Another cyclonic circulation is prevailing over the southwest Arabian Sea and adjoining Lakshadweep and Kerala coast.

Under its influence, isolated heavy rainfall is likely in Kerala between May 9 and 13, IMD said.

The IMD also forecast thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning and strong winds reaching speeds of 30 to 50 kmph at isolated places in Kerala and Mahe over the next five days. PTI TBA TBA KH
