Amaravati, Jul 21 (PTI) The India Meteorological Department on Monday forecast heavy rainfall in isolated parts of Andhra Pradesh for seven days from July 21 to 27.
It also predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over South Coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) on July 21, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds up to 50 kmph.
“Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning likely at isolated places over North Coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP), Yanam, SCAP and Rayalaseema,” said a release from the Meteorological Centre in Amaravati.
Strong surface winds ranging from 40-50 kmph are likely to prevail across all four regions during the forecast period, with higher speeds expected in coastal belts.
From July 22 to 25, heavy rainfall is expected to continue over NCAP, Yanam, SCAP, and Rayalaseema, with thunderstorms and gusty winds persisting at isolated locations, said the department.
On July 26 and 27, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over NCAP and Yanam, with thunderstorms forecast on July 26 in SCAP and Rayalaseema as well.
Additionally, a fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the north Bay of Bengal around July 24, which could intensify rainfall activity in the coming days, the release added. PTI MS STH ROH
