New Delhi, Mar 31 (PTI) The International Film Festival of Delhi (IFFD) concluded on Tuesday with the screening of ‘Shatak: Sangh ke 100 Varsh,’ a film on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, and a short film on Lokmata Devi Ahilyabai.
The screenings were held at Bharat Mandapam, according to a statement.
Delhi’s Minister for Art, Culture and Tourism Kapil Mishra said such films help the younger generation understand the contributions of national figures.
He said the film ‘Shatak’ presents the ideology and evolution of the RSS and highlights the role of its volunteers in various national movements.
According to the minister, the film portrays the contributions of such leaders as Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, Madhav Sadashivrao Golwalkar, and Balasaheb Deoras, and their role in shaping the organisation’s journey over the past century.
Speaking about the short film, Mishra said Ahilyabai Holkar played a key role in preserving India’s cultural and religious heritage through the construction and restoration of temples, besides working for social reform and women’s empowerment.
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several religious sites, including the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Kashi Vishwanath, Mahakal, Somnath, and Kedarnath, have been developed or restored, he said.
Mishra added that under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi is emerging as a hub for creative industries and entertainment.
In its first edition, IFFD received over 2,100 film entries from more than 100 countries, with over 125 films from 47 countries screened across 15 venues in the national capital, the statement said.
The festival saw more than 30,000 registrations, it added. PTI SHB VN VN
