New Delhi, Jun 20 (PTI) The IAF and the Armed Forces Medical Services executed a swift overnight mission to airlift donated organs — a liver and two kidneys — from the Command Hospital in Pune to an Army hospital in Delhi, officials said on Saturday.

The organs were donated by a brain-dead person, a dependent of a serving soldier.

“In a remarkable example of inter-service coordination and selfless service, the Indian Air Force and Armed Forces Medical Services executed a swift overnight mission to airlift the vital organs from Command Hospital, Pune to Army Hospital (R&R) Delhi,” a senior official said.

“This life-saving mission was conducted with the IAF deploying a transport aircraft to ensure timely delivery,” he said.

The operation will help save multiple lives. It stands as a testament to the military’s unwavering commitment to duty, the official said. PTI KND DIV DIV
