Hyderabad, Oct 10 (PTI) Eight people, including three women, were arrested here for allegedly trafficking a minor girl and forcing her into prostitution, police said on Saturday.

The minor victim was “kidnapped” on September 2 by a man, who handed her over to two women. They in turn handed her over to another woman, the organiser of the brothel house and took Rs 30,000 from her; the amount was shared by the man and the two women, a police release said.

The woman organiser then forced the girl into prostitution while three other accused used to arrange customers, it said.

The victim managed to escape from the organiser and came home, and she informed about it to her family members and filed a complaint at Tolichowki Police Station, police said.

A case under relevant sections of the BNS, POCSO Act and ITPA was registered, and the eight accused were arrested on October 9.

“The victim was allegedly lured with the promise of food and shelter, transported to different locations, and handed over to other persons for prostitution,” police said. PTI VVK VVK ADB

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
