Shimla, Nov 1 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh government has reduced pending Jamabandis by nearly 90 per cent from around 6,500 to over 750, with the Revenue Department adopting technology, digitising land records and easing documents’ accessibility, an official statement said.

According to a statement issued here on Sunday, the drop in pending Jamabandis highlights the updation of nearly 5,750 records, including all land-related transactions carried out over the past five years.

Over the past four years, the department has progressed in adopting information technology, digitising land records, introducing online procedures in revenue courts and making digital documents easily accessible to the public, the statement said.

Platforms such as e-HimBhoomi, the Revenue Management System (RMS), RCCMS, the Bhu-Naksha Portal and the My Deed Portal have transformed the department’s functioning, it said.

Apart from introducing technology, these initiatives also save citizens from repeated office visits and ensure accuracy and easy accessibility of land records, officials added.

The RMS portal is a major milestone in revenue courts’ modernisation. Since September 1, 2025, the portal has been functioning as a fully online and paperless system, it said.

The Himachal Pradesh Revenue Courts Online Filing and Procedure Rules, 2025, notified on September 9, 2025, have provided a legal and regulatory framework for this digital system.

So far, more than 2.1 lakh revenue cases have been processed through the RMS. Of these, 71,000 cases have been filed through the fully online Revenue Court Module launched last year.

All 479 revenue courts across the state have been connected to this digital platform, through which nearly 28,000 cause lists have been generated. In addition, around 16,000 advocates and more than 52,000 citizens have registered on the portal.

To ensure speedy disposal of revenue cases, monthly Lok Adalats are organised toward the end of every month, with land-related cases given priority, it said.

The initiative aims to reduce the backlog of pending cases and spare citizens from unnecessary delays, the statement said. PTI BPL SHS
