Una (HP), Jun 19(PTI) An unknown caller has threatened a petrol pump owner in Una district repeatedly in the past four weeks and demanded Rs 50 lakhs, police said on Thursday.

The victim, Vinod Kumar, a resident of Bangana village, has lodged a police complaint, alleging that an unknown person has called him thrice on WhatsApp and threatened him with dire consequences if the amount is not paid to him.

Kumar first received the calls on May 24 and 25.

Kumar, in his complaint, mentioned that he again received a call on June 15, which he missed. When he called back the following day, the caller allegedly said that he knows where he lives and what he does.

The caller then demanded the money and warned him of serious consequences if payment wasn’t made, Kumar stated in his complaint.

Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh said that an investigation is underway.
