Nahan, May 4 (PTI) At least four people, including a mother and her daughter, were killed on Monday after their vehicle went out of control and plunged into a 400-feet deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmour, officials said.
The incident occurred near Piyulilani village on the Sangrah-Gattadhar road, when the driver of the car suddenly lost control over the vehicle, causing it to roll into a 400-foot-deep gorge.
The vehicle, carrying five occupants, was on its way from Theer Dhar to Gattadhar when the tragedy struck. All the car’s occupants were residents of the Sangrah subdivision of Sirmour district.
The deceased have been identified as Amra Devi (52), a government school teacher, her daughter Aradhya (14), Priyanka and Sajjan Singh (62), while the injured Ajit Kumar (33) is under treatment in the Sangrah hospital.
The locals immediately initiated a relief and rescue operation and retrieved the bodies, along with the injured survivor, from the gorge.
The mother-daughter duo was on their way to school.
The bodies have been handed over to their families after post-mortem examination, Sangrah SDM Sunil Kayath said.
