Shimla, Aug 25 (PTI) Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Tuesday said that his government is working to eliminate waiting times for CT scan and MRI facilities, and the service will be available soon at all major health institutions across the state.
Responding to a question raised by Congress MLA Keval Singh Pathania during the Question Hour on the fourth day of the Monsoon session in the Himachal Pradesh assembly, he said that the government has replaced the 19-year-old MRI machine at Indira Gandhi Medical College, Shimla.
The chief minister highlighted that Himachal Pradesh is the first state in north India to offer robotic surgery facilities in government hospitals. He mentioned that over a hundred surgeries have already been performed using this technology.
The equipment used in robotic surgery has been purchased at Rs 1 crore lower rate than that of AIIMS, he claimed.
Sukhu said a robotic surgery costs Rs 1.30 lakh; patients are charged Rs 30,000, or Rs 50,000 if they are in special wards, while the government bears the rest of the expense.
The chief minister said that tenders have been issued for laboratory automation, involving an expenditure of Rs 125 crore. He remarked that rapid progress is being made in the health sector, and positive results will be visible soon.
New equipment is also being provided to ‘Model Health Institutions’, he added.
