Shimla, Apr 17 (PTI) Gearing up for the upcoming panchayat and urban local bodies’ polls, Himachal Pradesh Congress on Friday appointed its 71 block presidents.
The appointments made by the state Congress chief Vinay Kumar are effective immediately, a statement issued here said.
State Congress General Secretary (Organisation) Vinod Zinta issued the official notification regarding these appointments.
Earlier on March 28, AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge approved the Political Affairs Committee, Disciplinary Committee, state office bearers, and Executive Committee after nearly sixteen months.
An effort was made to accommodate consequential leaders from all sections of the party, maintaining caste and regional balance. Panchayati Raj and Urban bodies elections in the state are to be held before May 31, and the state assembly elections are slated for the end of 2027.
On November 6, 2024, Kharge dissolved the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee along with the district and block units with immediate effect.
