About 60 people were onboard when the accident took place near Katar village.

Prima facie, the accident appears to have been caused by brake failure, Kullu Sub-Divisional Magistrate Javanti Thakur said, adding that a major tragedy was averted due to the driver’s presence of mind in steering the bus towards the hillside. The bus driver was also among the injured.
