Ranchi, Apr 17 (PTI) A heatwave alert was issued for parts of Jharkhand on April 19 and 20, with maximum temperatures likely to rise by up to 3 degrees Celsius, according to the IMD.
The mercury is currently ranging from 33.5 to 41.8 degrees Celsius across the state.
The districts likely to face heat wave conditions include Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan.
“The weather will remain dry, and the maximum temperature is expected to rise by two to three notches from tomorrow. A ‘yellow’ (be updated) alert for heatwave has been issued for these seven districts,” said Abhishek Anand, the deputy director at IMD Ranchi.
The four north-western districts, Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra and Latehar, are likely to witness heatwave conditions on April 19. On April 20, in addition to these four districts, West Singhbhum, East Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan in the south-eastern part of the state are also likely to experience heat wave conditions.
The highest temperature was recorded in Daltonganj in Palamu at 41.3 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours, followed by Hinoo in Ranchi at 37.7 degrees Celsius and Jamshedpur at 37.1 degrees Celsius. PTI RPS RPS SOM
