Nanded, Aug 21 (PTI) A 10-year-old girl student was allegedly sexually assaulted by the headmaster of her school in the premises of the educational institute in Maharashtra’s Nanded city on Friday, officials said.
The incident came to light after the minor victim raised an alarm during the assault, they said.
Following the incident, the victim’s parents approached the police and lodged a complaint against the school headmaster.
Acting on the complaint, the police booked the headmaster under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, alongside relevant sections of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
“Taking note of the gravity of the crime, the headmaster was immediately detained,” police inspector Santosh Tambe said, adding that further investigation into the case was underway. PTI COR NP
