Haryana: Mercury climbs above normal, Narnaul hottest with 42 degrees Celsius

Chandigarh, Apr 20 (PTI) The maximum temperature settled above normal in several parts of Haryana on Monday, with Narnaul being the hottest place at 42 degrees Celsius, the meteorological office here said.

The maximum temperature in Narnaul was nearly five degrees above normal.

Hisar recorded a maximum temperature of 39.6 degrees Celsius, Karnal 39.4 degrees Celsius, Rohtak 41.6 degrees Celsius, Gurugram 40.5 degrees Celsius, Ambala 39 degrees Celsius and Sirsa 40.6 degrees Celsius.

Neighbouring Punjab also witnessed above-normal temperatures, the met said.

Bathinda was the hottest place in the state with a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius. Ludhiana recorded a high of 39.4 degrees Celsius and Patiala 39.8 degrees Celsius.

In Amritsar, the mercury settled at a high of 37.1 degrees Celsius.

Chandigarh, the common capital of Haryana and Punjab, also braved the heat as the maximum temperature settled at 38.1 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal. PTI SUN SHS SHS
