Chandigarh, May 26 (PTI) Senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Tuesday held a meeting here with party MLAs to deliberate on a wide range of “burning issues” affecting the people of Haryana.

During the extensive brainstorming session, the Congress legislators reviewed the state’s current socio-political and economic scenario, a statement said.

“The discussions focused heavily on public grievances across Haryana, including skyrocketing petrol and diesel prices, rampant inflation, rising unemployment and the controversial policy of hiring outsiders for Haryana state government jobs,” it said.

The opposition MLAs also raised serious concerns over the state’s “rising crime graph, widespread resentment among government employees, a series of scams and farmers’ grievances regarding minimum support price (MSP) and fertiliser shortages”.

The alleged acute crisis of power and water supply hitting several districts of Haryana was also a key talking point of the meeting.

Following the feedback from legislators, it was unanimously decided to convene a meeting of the Haryana Congress Legislature Party (CLP) on June 3 in Chandigarh.

In this upcoming meeting, the party will finalise its future roadmap and draft an aggressive strategy to take these public-centric issues directly to the masses, effectively cornering the BJP government both on the streets and inside the state Assembly, the statement said.

In another move, a high-level Haryana Congress meeting has been called on Wednesday to discuss the upcoming Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Haryana. The SIR is a periodic exercise conducted by the Election Commission of India across the country to verify and update the electoral roll.

The meeting will be jointly spearheaded by Leader of Opposition Hooda and Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC) president Rao Narender Singh.

Haryana Congress booth level agents (BLA-1) and all district presidents from across the state will participate in the session to streamline the party’s frontline strategy.

Notably, BLAs are nominated for specific polling station areas by the recognised political parties to assist and work alongside booth level officers (BLOs), who are appointed by the election authority for the respective polling stations.

BLA-1 is representative of a political party at the constituency level while BLA-2 is representative of a political party at the booth level. PTI SUN KSS KSS
