Chandigarh, Jun 16 (PTI) The Haryana government has implemented several farmer-centric initiatives, including purchasing 24 crops at minimum support price (MSP), state BJP chief Archana Gupta said on Tuesday.

These steps focus on ensuring fair pricing, advancing sustainable agriculture, and improving the rural economy, she said.

Gupta, who was on a visit to Jind and Charkhi Dadri, and addressed party workers, said after BJP governments were formed both at the Centre and in Haryana in 2014, several initiatives have been taken for welfare of farmers and to increase their income.

Haryana gives MSP on 24 crops, she said.

She said both Jind and Charkhi Dadri are agricultural belts and appealed to farmers to go for crop diversification and also take up organic farming.

During her visit, she also rode a bullock cart for a short distance.

Gupta said that now soil health cards are issued so that farmers know which crops are suitable to be sown on which type of soil and how much and what type of fertiliser is required.

She also said the state government is promoting organic farming in a big way and urged farmers to take benefit of the support extended by the government.

The Haryana BJP chief further said that India’s soul lies in its villages. The BJP government has been making efforts to give all facilities to the rural areas, be it in terms of road connectivity, education, transport and health initiatives, she added.

At Charkhi Dadri, she called the workers party’s backbone.

She said that it was due to their hardwork and blessing of the people that the BJP came to power in Haryana for third time in a row.

She also told the party workers to focus on winning a booth, telling them “Booth Jeeta Chunav Jeeta” (winning booth means winning election)”. PTI SUN KVK KVK
