Dehradun, Aug 28 (PTI) A Haridwar-based spiritual organisation on Friday sent relief materials to flood-ravaged Nepal.
Two trucks filled with essential daily-use items, comprising tarpaulins, flour, rice, sugar, tea leaves, cooking oil, utensils, and clothing, were flagged off from Haridwar.
Gayatri Teerth Shantikunj administrator Yogendra Giri shared the information.
He said that further consignments of relief materials would continue to be sent from Shantikunj to Nepal as the need arises.
Mangal Singh Garhwal, the leader of the disaster relief team, explained that the team would enter Nepal via the Sonauli border and proceed to Kathmandu. He said that upon reaching there, they would survey the disaster-hit areas with the help of local volunteers and deliver relief supplies to the affected families.
Pranav Pandya and Shail Didi, the heads of the ‘Akhil Vishwa Gayatri Pariwar’, stated that standing with the affected families during this difficult time of disaster is a humanitarian duty. They said that along with relief supplies, a message of warmth, empathy, and brotherhood is also being conveyed to the people of Nepal.
Shail Didi has also sent ‘rakhis’ for the brothers and sisters of Nepal on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. PTI DPT AMJ AMJ
