Guna (MP), May 10 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday laid the foundation stone for a 4 million-tonne-capacity cement plant in Guna district and said the region had changed with time, recalling that it was once known only for the sound of gunfire.
Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who represents the Guna Lok Sabha constituency and was present at the event, said under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the vision of Developed India has begun.
Yadav said the factory, to be set up by the Adani Group’s Ambuja Cement at a cost of Rs 1,059 crore, will employ 1,500 people. He termed the event a “historic” day for MP, especially the Guna district.
Industries are essential for development, and a new era is about to dawn in Guna, he said.
He also performed the groundbreaking ceremony and inaugurated 144 development projects worth approximately Rs 130 crore on the occasion.
Yadav said Guna’s coriander, roses, and people are amazing. “Our resolve for development will continue,” he said.
In the past, only the sound of gunfire could be heard in Guna-Gwalior-Chambal, but since the flag of development began to fly, times have changed, he said.
The factory will come up at Mawan village, about 10 km from the district headquarters, said officials.
Under the leadership of PM Modi, the whole country is transforming, and India today stands strong before the world, said the CM.
“This year is the Farmer Welfare Year. So, our government has decided that if we acquire land from farmers, we will pay them four times the market price. We will make them development partners,” he said.
Yadav said 40 lakh metric tonnes of cement will be produced in the plant and 1,500 people will get jobs. This is just the first phase, and there will be more benefits in the future, he said.
At the event, Scindia said, “Today is a day that will be written in golden letters for Guna. First of all, I salute the people for the (BJP) victory in Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry.” From Gangotri to Gangasagar, under the leadership of PM Modi, the vision of Developed India 2047 has begun, he said.
Like the PM, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is also carrying the banner of development. In two and a half years, he has strived to bring each district to the national stage, Scindia said.
Yadav has turned “red-tapism” into “red-carpet welcome” in MP for attracting investments, he said. The Guna cement plant is a new ray of hope, he said.
The “Mohan-Jyoti” duo has also brought employment opportunities for nearly 1500 people in the region, he said.
“In the future, 1,800 women will find employment in Badarwas. 600 sewing units will be built. Adani will also establish a defence unit with an investment of Rs 2,500 crore,” Scindia said.
Speaking to PTI Videos earlier in the day in Bhopal, the Union minister had said that the plant would bring a major transformation in the region.
At the event, Yadav also made several announcements for the Guna-Shivpuri parliamentary constituency, including the Gunia River project, the construction of a new bridge for Laxman Kotra, and the beautification of Guna’s Bhujaria Lake.
Addressing the function, Adani Group’s Pranav Adani said that under the leadership of CM Yadav, Madhya Pradesh has gained new momentum in development, with the government focusing on infrastructure, industry, and employment. He also expressed gratitude to Scindia for his support.
The Guna plant will be completed in two phases, with the first phase targeted to be operational by 2028, he said. Over time, this project will contribute over Rs 6,000 crore to the state treasury, he said.
The true power of any project isn’t just numbers, it’s the transformation it brings to people’s lives, he added. PTI MAS NR
