Gandhinagar, Jun 17 (PTI) A renovated traffic circle in Gandhinagar, dedicated to 50 years of the Indian Coast Guard, is drawing attraction with a display of replicas of an ICG offshore patrol vessel, a Dornier aircraft, and an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH).

The CHH-4B circle, renamed as “Bharatiya Tatrakshak Swarn Jayanti Circle”, was inaugurated by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi on Wednesday, according to an official release.

“In a proud recognition of the Indian Coast Guard’s five decades of dedicated and meritorious service to the nation and completion of 50 years of inception, the Government of Gujarat has renamed the CHH-4B Circle at Gandhinagar as ‘Bharatiya Tatrakshak Swarn Jayanti Circle’,” it said.

Sanghavi said the ICG is playing a significant role in operations such as seizing narcotics along the maritime borders, conducting rescue missions during heavy rains and natural disasters, and saving the lives of fishermen in distress.

The new circle displays an ICG Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), symbolising deterrence, maritime dominance and protection of Gujarat’s coastline and maritime borders, a Dornier aircraft and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) showcasing the swift response capability, air surveillance prowess and maritime reach of the ICG Aviation Wing with statues of ICG personnel representing the force’s eternal vigilance and dedication, the release stated.
