New Delhi, Jun 25 (PTI) The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on Thursday said technical glitches in the SHATAYU dashboard for senior citizens are being addressed and urged people not to rely on misleading information being circulated on social media about the platform.
The SHATAYU (Senior Holistic Care Assistance and Training for Your Utility) dashboard, launched on May 22, provides a platform for trained geriatric caregivers to register and offer services to senior citizens in need, the ministry said in a statement.
Managed by the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), an autonomous body under the ministry, the dashboard is aimed at building a database of trained caregivers across the country.
The ministry said caregivers trained during 2023-24 and earlier years were also allowed to self-register on the dashboard to strengthen the database and ensure that more senior citizens are able to access their services.
“The same was done with an intention of reflecting the maximum number of geriatric caregivers on the dashboard, so that more and more senior citizens are able to avail themselves of their services,” it said.
It said technical teams are continuously monitoring entries and suitable interventions are being made regularly to streamline the data.
The ministry also clarified that enrolment under the geriatric caregiver training programme depends on the location of the training centre, with candidates generally mobilised from nearby areas, and a large number of trainees may belong to a particular district, city or town.
Calling reports and posts circulating on social media about the dashboard “misleading”, the ministry said they should not be relied upon.
“It is worth appreciating that the intention of SHATAYU is to empower the end users through a self-registration mechanism. The initial glitches are being addressed by the able technical support team,” it said.
“The information being circulated about the dashboard through social media platforms is misleading and therefore should not be relied upon,” it added.
The ministry said it remains committed to building “an inclusive and age-responsive ecosystem” to support the well-being of senior citizens across India. PTI KSH KSS KSS
