Latur, Aug. 3 (PTI) The Maharashtra government has assured positive action on long pending demands of 60,000 Gram Panchayat employees following a high-level meeting held at Vidhan Bhavan complex, state secretary of Maharashtra State Gram Panchayat Employees’ Union Dayanand Erande said on Monday.
The meeting, chaired by Maharashtra Legislative Council deputy chairperson Sachin Aahir, was attended by Rural Development department principal secretary Chandrakant Pulkundwar and office-bearers of Maharashtra State Gram Panchayat Employees’ Union, Erande told PTI.
According to the union, key issues discussed included implementation of a proper pay scale for Gram Panchayat employees, transfer of the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) contribution to EPF accounts, relaxation of GP income conditions for employees and ensuring regular salary disbursement through an online system by the fifth day of every month.
The union also pressed for the immediate filling of nearly 10 per cent vacant posts in Zilla Parishads that have remained vacant for several years, he added.
The discussions were detailed and positive, union leaders said while expressing hope that the state government would initiate necessary administrative action at the earliest. PTI COR BNM
