New Delhi, Aug 3 (PTI) The Rs 193-crore modern poultry market at Ghazipur is set to be completed by December, while a modern flower market will be developed at the Integrated Freight Complex in Ghazipur and two new steel sheds at the Narela Grain Market will be built by July 2027 as part of the Delhi government’s plan to modernise the capital’s agricultural markets.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta chaired a meeting to assess the progress of ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects at Ghazipur, Narela and the Integrated Freight Complex (IFC), Ghazipur, according to a statement.
It said the modern poultry market, spread over nearly 15 acres, has been under construction since March 2019 and is scheduled to be completed by December 31. The facility will accommodate 100 wholesale traders and include 120 poultry processing units.
The meeting also reviewed infrastructure works at the Ghazipur Fruit, Vegetable and Flower Market, where a 200-metre bypass drainage pipeline is being laid at an approved cost of Rs 17 lakh to address waterlogging.
Officials informed the chief minister that regular drives are being carried out to remove stray animals from the market premises to improve sanitation, the statement said.
The government also reviewed a proposal to construct two additional steel sheds at the Narela Grain Market at an estimated cost of around Rs 11 crore. The project is expected to be completed by July 2027, it read.
The meeting further discussed plans for a modern flower market at the Integrated Freight Complex in Ghazipur.
It said around 10 acres of land, acquired from the Delhi Development Authority in 2001, have been earmarked for the project, which will be developed in phases.
