Thane, May 14 (PTI) A furniture godown was gutted after a fire broke out in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Thursday morning, officials said.
The blaze erupted at 8.10 am at a nearly 900-square-foot godown located at Bhatti Gali in Shil, Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) chief Yasin Tadvi said.
Wooden cupboards, plywood and other furniture material were stored at the godown, he said.
“After receiving information from the Shil fire station, two fire engines and one rescue vehicle were rushed to the spot. Fire brigade personnel immediately began firefighting operations,” Tadvi said.
No injuries were reported in the incident, but the entire stock kept in the godown got destroyed, he said.
“The fire was completely extinguished at around 11 am and the situation is now under control,” Tadvi added.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, officials said. PTI COR NP
