Hyderabad, Jun 15 (PTI) Police on Monday said four persons—among them a woman—were arrested in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old electrician here.

According to police, the victim was allegedly attacked and killed on June 12 by his brother-in-law and others, who were opposed to the marriage between the victim and the brother-in-law’s sister.

A case was registered under relevant sections of the BNS and the Arms Act, 1959, at Golconda Police Station, based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father, a police release said.

The complainant stated that his son had a love marriage in January 2025.

However, his son’s brother-in-law, the prime accused in the case, was opposed to the marriage, due to which the brother-in-law frequently picked quarrels with the complainant’s son, the complainant said.

In December 2025, the complainant’s son was blessed with a baby boy.

Recently, the prime accused, along with his mother and another sister, came to the complainant’s house in the Kumarwadi area and quarrelled with his son, and forcibly took his daughter-in-law to their house.

On June 12, the prime accused, along with his two cousins and a woman relative, forcibly entered the complainant’s house with rods, a knife and wooden sticks, and attacked his son, police said.

The prime accused initially attacked the victim with a rod on the head, and the other accused attacked him with a knife and wooden sticks, following which he died on the spot, police said.

The accused also attacked the complainant, due to which he received bleeding injuries on his right hand and right cheek, police said.

Acting on credible intelligence, a special team tracked down and apprehended all four accused on June 13, the release added. PTI VVK SSK
