Jamshedpur, Sep 30 (PTI) Four people have been arrested in Chhattisgarh in connection with the firing incident at a mall in Jamshedpur, a police officer said on Wednesday.
A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to investigate and apprehend the culprits who opened fire at a restaurant in a mall, injuring four people on September 26.
The SIT swung into action and arrested the four people in connection with the firing incident from Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference this evening, Senior Superintendent of Police, East Singhbhum, Ehtesham Waquarib said the four conspirators having criminal antecedents were brought here on transit remand and produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate.
The arrested persons were Shankar Munda, Ramesh Sharma, Manoj Sarkar and Dipu Ojha.
The firing incident was stated to be the outcome of personal enmity over railway contracts and land dispute, the SSP said.
Police have seized a car they were travelling and six mobile phones from their possession, he added.
Waquarib said two shooters fired 12 rounds at a Udipi restaurant in Bindal Mall on Marine Drive under Sonari police station limit of the city on September 26.
The SSP said the shooters have been identified and would be apprehended soon.
The injured persons, including one Dominic Samson, who was the target of the shooters, are undergoing treatment at Tata Main Hospital here. PTI BS RG
