Prayagraj (UP), Apr 15 (PTI) Five persons were on Wednesday killed after being run over by two trains near Pachdevra halt overbridge in the Karchana police station area here, officials said.
Superintendent of Police (Government Railway Police) Prashant Verma said a man was killed after being run over by the Kalka Express, due to which the train had to stop.
Out of curiosity, passengers of the train got down onto the tracks. He said that at the same time, the Purushottam Express arrived on another track and four people were run over by the train. All four died on the spot.
So far, three of the deceased have been identified, while efforts are underway to identify the remaining two.
Karchana Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Kumar said the deceased have been identified as Baliram (36), a resident of Siwan (Bihar); Sunil Kumar (24), a resident of Bishandarpur (Mirzapur); and Akash (17), a resident of Prithvipur Khairgarh (Firozabad).
He added that the identities of the other two victims are still being ascertained.
