Noida, Apr 26 (PTI) A fire broke out in a cluster of shanties in the Chuharpur Khadar area of Greater Noida on Sunday, gutting eight huts, officials said.

No casualties have been reported so far in the incident that occurred under the Ecotech-1 police station area, they said.

Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar said two fire tenders were rushed to the spot around 5 pm after information about the blaze was received.

“The fire team has successfully doused the blaze. Eight huts were destroyed in the fire, while approximately 25 to 30 shanties were saved. The fire was caused by sparks from an electrical pole,” he said.

According to the officials, the flames spread rapidly, engulfing several huts within minutes.

Thick plumes of smoke and high flames were seen rising from the shanties from a distance, triggering panic in the surrounding area. PTI COR KIS DIV DIV
