New Delhi, May 20 (PTI) A fire broke out at a cloth shop in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh on Monday, the Delhi Fire Services said.

Three people, who got stuck on the top floor, were rescued, a senior police officer said.

“We received a call regarding a fire at a cloth showroom at 5.28 pm. A total of 14 fire tenders were pressed into service,” an official of the DFS said.

“It took more than two-and-a-half hours to douse the flames and the fire was put out at around 7.40 pm. Two fire tenders are at the spot for cooling operations,” the official said.

The police have started an investigation to ascertain the reason behind the fire at the shop situated on Ajmal Khan Road, he said.

Earlier today, a 45-year-old man charred to death after a massive fire broke out in a four-storey building in northeast Delhi’s Durgapuri Extention area.

The deceased was identified as Jitender aka Chotu, who was a worker in the cloth showroom located on the ground floor of the building. PTI BM RHL
