Bengaluru, May 27 (PTI) Fourteen patients, including some from the ICU, were evacuated safely after a fire broke out at a private hospital in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.

None of the patients or staff sustained any injuries, police said.

According to police, the incident was reported at around 3.15 am at Aveksha Hospital on MS Palya Road in Singapura.

Fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot, and the blaze was brought under control, a senior police officer said.

The fire is suspected to have started from an electrical cable in the basement duct, causing heavy smoke to engulf parts of the building, he said.

The evacuated patients were shifted to a nearby hospital, he added.

Officials from Vidyaranyapura police station inspected the spot, police said, adding that further investigation is underway. PTI AMP SSK
