Rajgarh (MP), May 12 (PTI) Twelve persons were injured and several motobikes damaged after a massive fire broke out at a petrol pump in Madhya Pradesh’s Rajgarh district, police said on Tuesday.
A diesel tanker also caught fire during the incident, which occurred around 9 pm on Monday in Pachore town, they said, adding that the condition of one of the injured persons was critical.
Fuel was being filled in a motorbike at the petrol pump when a spark suddenly occurred, causing a massive fire, Sarangpur Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Arvind Singh said.
Several explosions occurred during the incident. A diesel-filled tanker caught fire, and about a dozen motorbikes were also burned, the official said.
Twelve persons suffered burn injuries in the incident, the police said.
After being alerted, police and Chief Municipal Officer Deepak Ranve rushed to the spot with fire engines.
The blaze was brought under control with great difficulty.
The injured persons were immediately admitted to a local hospital. One person in critical condition was referred to Indore for treatment, while five others were referred to the Shajapur District Hospital, the official said.
