Pune, Sep 6 (PTI) A fire triggered by a technical fault at a substation of the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MSETCL) disrupted electricity supply to several parts of Pimpri-Chinchwad on Sunday afternoon, officials said.
According to officials, the blaze erupted around 12.25 pm following an explosion in a 22-kV current transformer and breaker unit at the MSETCL facility in Chinchwad.
Firefighters brought the blaze under control shortly after, and the affected section of the substation was shut as MSETCL officials and Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) worked to restore power supply in the remaining sections.
The disruption affected several 22-kV high-voltage feeders supplying power to the MSEDCL. Consequently, several parts of Pimpri-Chinchwad, including Pradhikaran, Ravet, Kalewadi, Wakad, Pimple Gurav, Pimple Nilakh, Sangvi, Punawale, and Tathawade, faced power outages.
MSETCL personnel were deployed on a war footing to resume supply from the unaffected sections of the substation, while MSEDCL worked to restore electricity to consumers via alternative routes, officials added.
